I heard about Ibogaine for the first time on a TV show. It was one of those American police series, I was practically asleep but as the subject was the case of an addicted boy who managed to heal, thanks to a moment in time, I made an effort, I got up, took paper and pencil and wrote that word down, that then became a salvation.

By then I had been accompanying my son in his fight against heroin addiction for 10 years, he had tried everything that was within our reach, he had even stayed in a therapeutic community for almost two years voluntarily. He went inside again, recovered and in a few months he was back on the run. Each relapse was worse and its deterioration greater, putting at risk his life and the ones of other people in several situations. Then I was certain that hell existed and that we lived in it.

My only consolation was prayer and my faith. So I continued to try all kinds of treatments and concoctions that made him little or no difference, until in 2016, he ended up on the street, without a partner, without a roof or food, he lost everything.

For my part, I could do very little since I had fled the country and was very far from where he was. However, I was still researching ibogaine, everywhere it was shown as a highly effective treatment but practically inaccessible by costs and distances, although there were also less expensive offers than those of the specialized centers, but they did not seem reliable.

Oí sobre la Ibogaina por primera vez en un programa de TV. Se trataba de una de esas series policiales norteamericanas, yo estaba prácticamente dormida pero como el tema era el caso de un chico adicto que lograba curarse gracias a un plata hice un esfuerzo, me levanté, tomé papel y lápiz y escribí aquella palabra que se convirtió luego en una salvación. Para entonces ya llevaba unos 10 años acompañando a mi hijo en su lucha contra la adicción a la heroína, él había intentado todo lo que estaba a nuestro alcance, hasta había permanecido en una comunidad terapéutica por casi dos años de manera voluntaria. En esa oportunidad su cambio fue impresionante pero a su regreso a España volvió a recaer. Primero con la marihuana y al poco tiempo con la heroína. Se internaba de nuevo, se recuperaba y a los pocos meses volvía a las andadas. Cada recaída era peor y su deterioro mayor, poniendo en riesgo su vida y la de otras personas en varias oportunidades. Entonces tuve la certeza de que el infierno existía y que vivíamos en él. Mi único consuelo era la oración y mi fe. Así continúo probando todo tipo de tratamientos y brebajes que poco o nada le hicieron hasta que en 2016 llegó a quedarse en la calle, sin pareja, sin techo ni comida, lo perdió todo. Por mi parte poco podía hacer ya que había huido del país y estaba muy lejos de donde él se encontraba. Sin embrago seguía investigando sobre la ibogaina, en todas partes la mostraban como un tratamiento altamente efectivo pero prácticamente inaccesible por los costos y las distancias aunque también había ofertas menos costosas que las de los centros especializados pero no parecían fiables. Fue así como encontré la pag web de Tabula Rasa y les escribí en medio de mi desesperación. Mi hijo apenas podía caminar, estaba al borde de la muerte y sé que solo gracias a un milagro y a la solidaridad y buena fe del equipo responsable de Tabula Rasa pudo llegar hasta allá. En sus instalaciones no solo recibió una excelente ayuda profesional sino un apoyo humano incondicional como pocas veces he conocido.
