Spice/K2 Addiction

Spice/K2 Addiction

Synthetic cannabinoids, also known as synthetic cannabis, are a type of new psychoactive substance (NPS) created to imitate the effects of real cannabis, commonly known as Spice/K2. Spice/K2 addiction is a common occurrence after frequent use, however, synthetic cannabinoids differ from THC, the active component in cannabis, and produce a range of negative effects.

Therefore, the terms “synthetic cannabis” or “synthetic marijuana” are incorrect. The accurate term for these substances is “synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists”, but for simplicity, we will refer to them as Spice/K2.

Spice was the first of several synthetic cannabinoid products sold in Europe, and others, such as Kronic, Northern Lights, K2, and Kaos, have since emerged. Synthetic cannabinoids can also be marketed as herbal tea, incense, or potpourri.

The widespread use of synthetic cannabinoid products among young people can be attributed to their easy accessibility and the misguided belief that they are natural and therefore safe. Additionally, these products are still being used as traditional drug tests cannot efficiently identify most of the chemicals they contain.

The consumption of Spice/K2 can lead to severe side effects such as anxiety, kidney damage, hallucinations, paranoia, loss of muscle control, high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, cravings, euphoria, and seizures. Withdrawal symptoms can also be severe, making it difficult for users to quit. Long-term use of synthetic cannabinoids has been associated with severe mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis in both healthy and vulnerable individuals.

Tabula Rasa Retreat offers ibogaine therapy, as well as a holistic aftercare program intended to help users overcome their addiction to Spice/K2 permanently. Treatment with ibogaine provides Spice/K2 users with a clear path, allowing them to take stock of their situation and make positive changes. Our program is specifically designed to help users achieve their objectives and break free from addiction to synthetic THC, providing real solutions.
